Saturn Conjunct Pluto in Capricorn

Sometimes it takes a little time for things to become obvious. Back in January 2020, there was a lot of chatter about the Saturn/Pluto conjunction. Of course, you had to be interested in astrology in order to hear about it. While astrologers were busy writing and talking about this conjunction and what it might bring, the mainstream news media was reporting about a life-changing event that was about to impact the lives of just about every person on the planet.

“On January 9, 2020, on the "CBS Morning News," Anne-Marie Green reported about a new virus, related to SARS, that was possibly responsible for a mysterious pneumonia outbreak in China: "The new coronavirus was found in 15 of 59 patients with the illness. The virus is spread through coughing or sneezing or by touching an infected person." - CBS News

This virus, Covid-19, was the root cause of major social and economic upheaval that would change the world and society in countless ways. The world was suddenly in a state of crisis, and everything seemed to be spiraling out of control.

Saturn and Pluto join together to form a conjunction every thirty-three to thirty-eight years. What makes a specific conjunction, like the one that occurred January 12, 2020, “special” or “unique” is the sign it takes place in. The January 12, 2020 conjunction occurred at 22 degrees Capricorn.

The last time Saturn and Pluto formed a conjunction in Capricorn was in January 1518. Martin Luther had recently published his doctrine 95 Theses in October 1517. This event created a crisis and schism within the Catholic Church, resulting in social and political change on a grand scale. In historical terms, this time period is known as The Reformation.

At the time of the Saturn/Pluto conjunction in 2020, it was anyone’s guess how it would play out and what changes the world was in store for. There were hints based upon world news and current events and in retrospect it is safe to say that Covid-19 is the event which would have the greatest impact on the world. As it turns out, Barbara Hand Clow predicted this event back in 2010.

In Evolutionary Astrology, the Saturn, Capricorn, 10th House archetype is defined as the structure of consciousness in the simplest of terms. This “structure” is “reality” on both an individual level and on a collective level. Whenever there is a major shift, or “crack,” in reality, those in the consensus state are affected the most.

In relation to Pluto, there is both an individual and collective desire, or intention, to eliminate any and all emotional and psychological limitations that are preventing growth and a return to the Source. Keywords commonly used to describe Pluto are “death and rebirth,” transformation, destruction, elimination and regeneration, among others.

So what happens when Pluto and Saturn join together? There is a shift, or “crack” in reality, in order for evolution to proceed. Everything changes and will never be the same again.
