I've been on my own dive into the dark and almost clicked on some link about Ozzy and devil worship, but resisted that one :).

Although I did not dive deep into it, there were a lot of videos (based on reading titles only), saying he was actually a devout Christian.

I never watched their reality show, but my sense was that Ozzy and Sharon loved each other deeply. It's hard to reconcile that with devil worship, which is why I didn't click. But your point in the article about algorithms is so spot on. Made me laugh. It'll be interesting to see if/how they evolve.

I am sure if you had clicked on “that video,” your feed would be full of satanic/devil worship content, even if it is not true. I would avoid it :-)

There is so much warped stuff out there — reminds me of the Tartaria rabbit holes I have blogged about. I think people feed off each other and try to top each other when discussing these weird urban legends.

Even on less sensational subjects, if I click on one toilet humor video on Facebook, suddenly I have ten of them in my feed. Maybe I was in the mood for one but not ten.

Yeah, it doesn’t take but one click to change the vibe of your feed. They over do it for sure. Why not watch toilet humor videos all day? The algorithm can assure you more than a feed full. The real danger is that you can become very narrow minded via confirmation bias when watching more serious content
